Lady Lucia Update: July Edition

Hello, readers—

I hope all of you are having a great summer. There isn’t too much to note this month. Just a couple small items to mention, mostly pertaining to my SubscribeStar. So, let’s jump right in!

Table of Contents ‘Tags’

Per popular request, I’m starting to list out the genres of all my stories, as well as some of the main elements seen along the way. They won’t actually be tags in terms of website links, but will be styled as such in the Table of Contents. I’ll be tackling this endeavor on both my website and my SubscribeStar.

If you’d like to help, feel free to send me a private message via email or the messaging system on SubscribeStar and let me know that X story has Y themes. There are just so many terms out there for various story elements, and I’m learning new ones to this day. I’m probably not going to end up writing out every single one, as I don’t want things to look too cluttered. However, I’m certain I haven’t heard them all, and would welcome input from all of you that read and reread my works.

This should be a quick project, and I plan on wrapping it up by the end of July.

Speaking of Table of Contents, you’ll see that I’ve pinned one to the top of the main page on my SubscribeStar. The site had some issue with access to my stories beyond the first paragraph or two, so I ended up doing an overhaul to fix the issue as quickly as possible in my own way. The bad news is, none of my exclusive stories are condensed like they were before. The good news is, now you can jump to any part of any story exclusive from the site itself, rather than doing so through my website.

I did get a request to include my free website stories on SubscribeStar itself, but I think that would end up too confusing for everybody. For now, I’m going to keep all the free stuff over here, and all the exclusive stuff over there. That feels simpler to me, though I’m always open to feedback from those who may feel differently.

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out about anything!

Current Word Count

I mentioned on a recent comment that I would explain the varying lengths of my posts.

The baseline for both my website stories and SubscribeStar stories is 1000-1250 words, which ends up being about 3-4 pages per update. That number increases when someone at one of the “Additional Writing” tiers asks me to focus on a particular story(s). As of right now, the only title requested is The Present. If there’s an ongoing work you’d like to read more of, consider checking one of those tiers out.

I have things set up like this to avoid burnout, which is rather common for writers. If my average posts were longer and I had to increase the word count on top of that, I would almost certainly overextend myself and the quality of my posts would suffer. This way, I have a bit of padding so there’s room for any given story to get more attention without biting off more than I can chew by trying to do so with all of them.

If anyone’s interested, I would consider bringing back the “Story Focus” tier. It’s not quite as direct as “Additional Writing,” which lets readers simply choose a story, but perhaps some people would be interested in the gamble? I’ll make a post about it on SubscribeStar and see what everyone thinks.

Hopefully all of that makes sense!

Conclusion

Thanks, everyone. Have a great month, and I’ll be back with another update in August!

Much love,

Lady Lucia
