Lady Lucia Update (August Edition!)
Hey, everyone—
Happy August, for starters! Those of you who are students, or have jobs that lighten up over the summer, enjoy your last month of freedom. Everyone else, be jealous of those who get an easy season. Now, onto announcements!
First Goal of the New Platform
Sticking with the theme of ‘Word Count,’ I thought I’d set up a pledge goal now that my SubscribeStar is more established. So, here’s what I’m looking for, and then I’ll explain:
300 Subscribers: Increase post length by 25%.
This will be on top of whatever is added from the Additional Writing tiers, as well as the new tier announced below. A big reason why I’m doing this is to see if I can get more readers to move to my SubscribeStar. If everyone currently pledged on my Patreon made the switch right now, we’d be at about 250 subscribers. Aside from the pain of setting up a new account, the rate is the exact same. It would just make things a lot more streamlined for me if I could focus on just the one platform, plus I haven’t forgiven Patreon for how they financially screwed over so many writers and other artists last year with no warning. I’d much rather give SubscribeStar a cut of my modest earnings, as they actually let people write whatever they want to write without the hyper-sensitivity that’s so prevalent in today’s internet.
Also, I’m still chasing the dream of being a full-time writer. So, while I won’t make anything more from readers switching platforms, the remaining 50 subscribers-to-be of this goal will certainly make a difference. And, once we get there, I’ll increase the baseline word count of all my ongoing stories!
New SubscribeStar Tier
Some of you will have already seen this, as I recently noted it on my feed over there. In response to some feedback I’ve been getting over the last few weeks, I added a tier that serves a dual purpose. For starters, it’s a way for some readers to simply show a little extra support, as the previous gap between the first and second tier was a bit much. Hopefully this splits the difference for those of you that are interested in pledging higher, but not too much higher. As I’ve said before, I completely get the subscription fatigue these days.
To be completely transparent, the perks of this tier aren’t that crazy. It will simply be a monthly Story Focus vote, though I’ll be doing it a little differently than on my previous platform. Rather than only getting one vote for website stories and one vote for SubscribeStar stories, I plan on listing out every ongoing work and giving as many votes as you want. That should give me better insight into which stories and genres are most appreciated as I write them, rather than restricting people to their absolute favorite. Commissions will be excluded.
The first vote will be posted on August 14th.

This is pretty much done, though feel free to message me about any genres/elements that I missed. I stuck with the more broad themes, so the titles aren’t bogged down with too many. But if you think there’s something important that I overlooked, I’d absolutely consider adding it. Just let me know!
